Surrey RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance with locating a 24-year-old man who has outstanding arrest warrants.
On September 7, 2023, Police officers of the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) conducted a traffic stop after observing a suspect vehicle driving dangerously through Surrey’s streets during peak traffic hours. The suspect vehicle was a 2017 white Range Rover, BC licence plate TK199L, with the driver identified as Haitam Maher.
As officers approached the suspect vehicle, it allegedly drove forward into the police vehicle, almost striking an officer. The suspect vehicle then fled; thereafter, colliding with multiple other civilian vehicles.
Thankfully no one was injured during this incident,
said Corporal James Mason, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. Haitam Maher has been charged with several offences and we are encouraging the public to call Surrey RCMP with any information that could assist us in locating him
, said Mason.
Haitam Maher is described as a 24-year-old man, 6’0, 194 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Haitam Maher has been charged with the following offences:
- Assaulting police officer with a weapon
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to Stop
- Willfully resist/obstruct
