12 arrested during Black Friday Boost & Bust in Surrey

A coordinated effort by Surrey RCMP and Transit Police resulted in 12 arrests and the recovery of over $800.00 in stolen merchandise during a Black Friday operation in Whalley.
On November 24, 2023, the Surrey RCMP North Community Response Unit, with the assistance of the Metro Vancouver Transit Police Crime Suppression Team, conducted a one day Boost and Bust project at the Central City Mall and surrounding stores including Save-On-Foods, London Drugs, Home Depot, and the BC Liquor Store.
Twenty Loss Prevention Officers participated in the project
, says North Community Response Unit Commander S/Sgt. Nigel Pronger. Surrey RCMP is thankful for the assistance and strong partnership with Transit Police, who contributed to the success of this enforcement operation.
- 12 suspects were arrested in total;
- 15 charges forwarded to BC Prosecution Service
- 1 unendorsed warrant executed;
- 1 notice of driving prohibition served;
- $200.00 in counterfeit currency seized;
- Drugs packaged for street level drug trade seized that included:
- 20.54 grams Crack Cocaine
- 27.87 grams Cocaine
- 26.34 grams Crystal Meth
- 10.24 grams Fentanyl
Transit Police works closely with our jurisdictional police partners, ensuring the safety of transit passengers, while also working on projects to target those criminals who use public transit to commit crime. The number of arrests are a strong reflection that teamwork made this joint effort successful

Police are continuing with more operations throughout Surrey this holiday season. We can’t promise snow for the holidays, but we can promise more thieves will be held accountable for their actions!
